About Me
Hello and a very warm welcome to Pudding & Crumbs bakery! I’m Nicola, a devoted mummy to 3 cake-a-holic little girls and wife to Carl, my chief taster and biggest supporter. Baking has been a passion of mine for many years, and I've spent countless happy hours in my kitchen creating new recipes for my family to enjoy and I cant wait to share them with you all.
My love for baking began during my childhood where I was fortunate enough to spend my school holidays with my beloved grandmother, my Nanna Madge. She is an incredible cook, literally the best baker I know, and she taught me the basics of baking from a very young age. I have such warm childhood memories of standing on a stool in my grandparent's kitchen to reach up to the mixer where we would be baking 6 or 7 Christmas cakes for family and neighbours or perhaps, we’d be whipping up a batch of my Grandads favourite butterfly cakes.
Over the years she has taught me the basics of baking and I can recite by heart her recipe for Victoria sponge cake that her mother taught her that I still use to this day as it just works and why change something that’s worked for over 100 years.
I've been blessed with the opportunity to stay home with my children and it has been an absolute joy to watch them grow. Cooking for them is one of my favourite pass times, from the early days of creating new and exciting weaning food for them to baking with them from the second they were old enough to stand on a stool to help me in the kitchen, and hopefully I’m igniting the same love for food and cooking in them that my Nanna sparked in me.
My children are my biggest inspiration, they all have different likes and dislikes when it comes to mummy's sweet treats, and creating and adapting recipes for them fills me with such joy. One thing they do always agree on is their eagerness to try my latest creations and give me their (brutal at times) honest feedback. They are my taste testers and my critics, but most importantly, they are my biggest fans.
Opening this bakery is a dream come true for me. I've always had a desire to share my love for baking with others, but it's taken me a while to summon the courage to pursue it. I'm so grateful for the encouragement and support of my family and friends, who have encouraged me to take this leap and share my passion with the you all.
At Pudding & Crumbs, we specialise in my family's favourite treats: brownies, blondies, and cookies. It's my honour to be able to share my love for baking with you all, and I can't wait for you to taste the treats that I've put my heart and soul into.
